Courage in Action: A New Playground. News & Stories from Kerus Global Education

A wave of joy recently swept through the Kerus Care Center in Soshanguve, South Africa, as the children clapped and cheered for their brand-new playground.

Thanks to the generosity of our friends at Rich Fork Church in Thomasville, NC, the Care Center is now home to colorful climbing equipment, swings, and slide.

The children’s wide-eyed wonder was unmistakable—tiny hands explored smooth new surfaces, delighted squeals filled the air, and laughter echoed as they raced to try every piece.

This bright new addition offers more than just fun; it provides a vital space for these deserving children to be outdoors in the glorious sunshine, moving their bodies, laughing freely, and forging deeper connections with one another.

Even the teens joined in, though Kele, our Center Director, had to gently remind them to give the little ones first turns.

This wonderful blessing is a powerful reminder that God is always faithful, and he never fails to provide for the children we serve.

Within the safe, loving walls of the Care Center, children now have space to play, grow stronger, and build friendships.

For many, it offers a healing outlet from the daily challenges of poverty and, for many, the lingering effects of trauma, nurturing both resilience and hope.

The sound of laughter carries beyond our gates into the community, a living reminder of God’s faithfulness and provision.

Neighbors who pass by witness the children’s delight, and the sight of their overflowing happiness fills the hearts of the town’s residents with warmth and hope.

This new playground is a testament to the power of our Kerus community. We are deeply grateful to our Kerus family of supporters, whose prayers and generosity continue to provide for these children—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
